About

Developed from HAZOP practice as a software product.

HAIZOP is not an AI experiment looking for a problem. The platform was built for real HAZOP workflows, with a focus on preparation, expert review, documentation and traceable approvals.

[ 01 ] Mandate

What HAIZOP stands for.

Mission

We combine process-safety expertise with robust software to keep safety-relevant plant knowledge permanently available. This supports engineers in making well-founded decisions and building a consistent knowledge base across the full life cycle of an industrial plant.

Vision

We want to help industrial plants be planned, built, operated and modified more safely — through digitally available expert knowledge and intelligent support for safety-relevant decisions.

[ 02 ] Values

Our important principles

What we hold ourselves to.

Engineering integrity

No AI black box. Recommendations should remain traceable and verifiable — with equipment context, documented assumptions and standards cues where that basis is available.

Data sovereignty

EU hosting for platform and database, AI processing under the documented provider policy and private-deployment assessment for enterprise cases. Engineering data is not used to train external models and remains protected.

[ 03 ] Team

The people behind HAIZOP

Three disciplines, one team.

Christian Machens

Founder & Managing Director

Christian Machens

Christian Machens brings deep process-safety expertise from hydrogen safety, HAZOP studies and explosion protection into HAIZOP. His work on safety-critical energy and hydrogen systems shapes the professional direction of the platform: conservative methodology, clear review responsibility and a productive use of AI support.

Daniel Schindowski

Co-Founder

Daniel Schindowski

Daniel Schindowski is co-founder of HAIZOP GmbH. He brings more than a decade of entrepreneurial and technical experience in building production-grade enterprise platforms and an established multilingual development and consulting team. At HAIZOP, he connects architecture and custom development with operations, support and continuous improvement.

Karl Friedrich Klahn

Co-Founder & Project Lead

Karl Friedrich Klahn

Karl Friedrich Klahn has played a key role in developing HAIZOP together with Christian Machens since its inception. He coordinates the pilot operation and serves as the central interface to users. In doing so, he connects platform development with operational practice: he supports test users in adopting new features, validates development stages using real plant data, and ensures that HAIZOP performs reliably in day-to-day HAZOP workshops.

[ 04 ] Funding

EFRE market launch project

Successful completion of the EFRE market launch project.

Successful completion of the EFRE market launch project

HAIZOP GmbH has successfully completed its EFRE-funded market launch project.

As part of the project, the foundations for the market launch of the AI-supported HAZOP software were created, including market validation, the development of a sales and marketing strategy, and the establishment of a brand and IP strategy.

Our special thanks go to Sächsische Aufbaubank – Förderbank (SAB) and the Free State of Saxony for their financial support and trusted guidance throughout the project.

The funding made an important contribution to bringing innovative safety technologies from Saxony successfully to market.

[ 05 ] Founding & registered office

Who is behind HAIZOP.

HAIZOP is developed and operated by HAIZOP GmbH, based in Leipzig. Founder and managing director is Christian Machens; together with Daniel Schindowski and Karl Friedrich Klahn, the team connects process-safety expertise, product development and pilot operation.

The platform focuses on the parts of a HAZOP study that need the most structure in real projects: plant context, P&ID data, scenario drafts, review decisions, actions and report export.

After years of preparation, HAIZOP is now starting its operation. We set up demo access specifically for plant operators, HAZOP facilitators and engineering firms so they can benefit from time savings, increased safety and better guided HAZOP meetings as soon as possible.
